How to teach Chair Yoga for Teachers - CPD DAY FOR BWY SOUTHEAST REGION ASHINGTON,SUSSEX

This is an inspirational workshop designed for teachers and serious students of yoga who wish to explore yoga through the age continuum. In other words adapting to the changes brought by ageing in a very positive way.

For Teachers - review of teaching methods, how to adapt your teaching to the evolving needs of your students. I will help you refresh your practice and teaching with new insights informed by a deeper understanding of attention and awareness.

Morning Session 10am-1pm

A complete taught, chair based practice for the less able and elderly based on the 8 limbs of yoga. This will include the use of a variety of props.

Students will consolidate their understanding of common conditions to be found in an ageing population. E.g: osteoporosis; arthritis; Parkinson’s’; lung disease; cardio-vascular diseases and diabetes; also hip and knee replacement. And an understanding of chronic disabilities such as multiple sclerosis and conditions of the back. (this is a non-exhaustive list which will be covered within the workshop)

There will be discussion and sharing of knowledge – the day will also allow for students to ask about particular ‘conditions’ and needs of their students.

 Afternoon Session 2-4pm

Sharing of ideas in a workshop setting of how to build a flowing chair based practice to enhance and enable yoga for the less able or elderly.

Work in pairs or small groups to plan a session of chair based yoga. This will be followed by inter-group feedback and eventually a plenary session to enhance sharing and learning of new skills.

The day will end with a tutor led, chair based yoga nidra.

 What to bring
